Information from the Baku City Executive Power
In accordance with the instructions of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, escalators and certain elevators that have reached the end of their service life in above-ground and underground pedestrian crossings in Baku will be replaced this autumn.
According to the Press Service of the Baku City Executive Power, within the framework of these works, new weather-resistant escalators manufactured by the famous Finnish company "KONE" which is considered one of the world's leading manufacturers in this field have already been ordered. The manufacturing plant has currently commenced the production of these mechanisms according to individual measurements and technical specifications. Their delivery to the capital and gradual installation works will begin from October-November of this year.
Based on complaints received from residents, these works envisage the replacement of a total of 177 escalators and 2 moving walkways (travelators) at 46 locations across various areas of the capital.
The escalators and mechanisms in question, which are currently on the balance of the State Agency of Azerbaijan Automobile Roads (AAYDA), will be transferred to the balance of the Baku City Executive Power after being upgraded.
