Implementation of the British project in Baku successfully continuos

The implementation of the project to organize the collection, transportation and sorting of solid waste at the most modern level, developed by the Department of Housing and communal Services of Baku in cooperation with the British company Mott MacDonald, has been successfully implemented for the fifth year in a row. As a result of the high – level implementation of the project in Narimanov district which was initially launched as a pilot project has been made signifiant progress and that’s why 7 more capital districts-Nizami, Nasimi, Sabail, Surakhani, Khatai, Yasamal and Pirallahi-have joined it in stages.

For the purpose of monitoring the progress of work, the composition and weight of the sorted waste collected in each district are regularly examined, the results are compared with the previous period. The results of regular joint monitoring by local and British specialists show the successful implementation of the project.

As a result of the measures taken and popularize work, the results achieved in Yasamal district, where the implementation of this project began three years ago, can be considered as a success. Thus, if in the first months of the implementation of the project the volume of sorted waste was 6-8 tons per day, and then gradually 11-14 tons, now this figure is about 22 tons per day. This is, first of all, the experience gained, as well as the result of the correct educational work of volunteers and employees of public utilities among residents. At the same time, residents of Yasamal district are closely involved in the implementation of this project from the first day.

It should be noted that this project is a project that aims to protect the environment from pollution. The head of state provides financial support to this project in order to improve the quality of services supplied to capital citizens. For the successful implementation of the project, 104 modern motor vehicles and mechanisms of utility purposes were purchased at Baku city communal service.

The successful implementation of this project will serve to keep our city clean, beautify, protect the environment and health, form a new ecological, sanitary culture and achieve economic benefits.
