Historic Thermometer Restored on the Exterior Wall of Baku City Executive Power
Following numerous requests from local residents, the iconic mercury thermometer mounted on the outer stone pillar of the Baku City Executive Power building has officially been restored.
Originally installed during the Soviet era, the outdoor thermometer stood for decades as a recognized feature of the city's architecture. While it remained in place following Azerbaijan’s independence, it was eventually removed in later years.
Its return is more than just a nod to nostalgia; it reflects an ongoing effort to preserve Baku’s urban heritage and seamlessly integrate historical landmarks into the modern cityscape.
Public street thermometers remain a cherished feature in major capitals worldwide. With Baku currently experiencing hot weather, locals and passersby have warmly welcomed the return of this classic landmark to its original facade.
