Success of the Communal Services Project in the Capital
The solid waste collection, transportation, and sorting project implemented by the Baku City Executive Power has been successfully ongoing for six years. Currently, it operates effectively in nine districts of the capital — Narimanov, Nizami, Nasimi, Yasamal, Khatai, Pirallahi, Surakhani, Binagadi, and Sabail.
To monitor the progress of the project, specialists regularly analyze the composition and weight of sorted waste collected in each district and compare the results with previous periods. These regular evaluations confirm the successful implementation and continuous improvement of the project.
Notably, the achievements in Khatai District, where the project was launched in September 2022, stand out as a clear success. Initially, 6–8 tons of waste were sorted per day. This figure gradually increased to 11–14 tons, and today, it has reached approximately 21–24 tons per day. This progress reflects both the experience accumulated over time and the effective educational efforts carried out by volunteers and utility employees, who have engaged actively with residents from the very beginning.
It is also worth noting that, to ensure the continued success of this environmentally significant project and to enhance the quality of services provided to residents, 164 modern utility vehicles and mechanisms have been purchased for Baku’s communal services, funded by the allocations of the country’s leadership. The introduction of this modern equipment has greatly improved the existing fleet and elevated the overall standard of services provided to the public.
The successful implementation of this project contributes to keeping our city clean and beautiful, protecting the environment and public health, fostering a new ecological and sanitary culture, and generating economic benefits.
