Volleyball Competitions Conclude in Abad Neighborhoods of the Capital
The Baku City Executive Power, the Regional Development Public Union, and the Baku City Youth and Sports Department jointly organized an inter-district volleyball tournament across Baku, dedicated to the 102nd anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev.
The main goal of the volleyball competition—held among teenagers born in 2011–2012 and consisting of two stages (district and city)—was to promote a healthy lifestyle and encourage youth participation in sports.
The matches took place in the stadiums of abad neighborhoods, developed as part of the “Our Yard” project, initiated by Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and founder and head of the IDEA Public Union. The tournament followed the Olympic system and featured a total of 1,200 participants, including 120 young athletes.The tournament, organized with the participation of national referees, concluded with the final matches on May 6. In the final match, the volleyball team of the Khazar district faced the Nasimi district team. Khazar district won with a score of 2–0, becoming the champion of the tournament.
Third place was claimed by the team from the Sabunchu district.
The winners were awarded honorary diplomas and valuable gifts.
